Together with our crowdinvestors and supporters we’ve been changing the world, bringing solar projects to life in emerging markets to take on climate change at the source: the energy grid. We’ve come a long way from our beginnings but with the effects of climate change becoming more severe we know it’s time to step up.

To achieve our vision of a climate-neutral energy mix worldwide, we’re taking our business to the next level. We’ve seen what renewable energy projects in emerging markets can do, and together with you we’re ready to take it further.

In the coming months, we’ll launch opportunities to invest in bigger projects than ever before, enter into new emerging markets, and most importantly we will offer more chances to create impact through investing.

Climate action for all: The vast potential of emerging markets

The International Energy Agency (IEA) is forecasting a 62% increase in global power generation between 2017 and 2040, the vast majority of which will come from emerging markets in regions like Africa (140% growth), Asia Pacific (84% growth), and Central/South America (68% growth).

This vast growth creates an incredible opportunity to drive the transition to renewable energy and tackle climate change. 

A new, broad measure of “energy transition investment”, compiled by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), shows that the world committed a record $501.3 billion to decarbonization in 2020, beating the previous year by 9% despite the economic disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Investment in renewable energy is steadily growing over time, but medium-sized solar projects still lack finance as the majority of investments focus on large utility-scale power plants. That’s where we come in. 

At ecoligo, we use finance from European crowdinvestors who want to invest sustainably to develop and implement solar energy projects for businesses in emerging markets that are looking to reduce their energy costs. By bridging the financial gap that exists in the realization of small and medium-size solar projects in emerging markets, we can meet the growing energy demands in these markets with clean, affordable solar energy.
